Education, learning and studying
Every child has the right to an effective education.
Every Council has a legal duty to ensure that each child fulfils their educational potential.
This section will help you to help you understanding the different educational option so you can find the right one for you.
Once your child is in education, if they need extra help or support there is a range of advice that you can use.

Finding the right educational option
Finding the right educational option for you and your child is essential. There are a range of different options for you to choose from depending on your child’s age or needs. This can include mainstream settings, specialist provision or elective home education.

School transport and travel options
Most children go to school near to where they live but if you choose a school for your child that is some distance away, it’s important to consider how they will travel to school.
Some children may be eligible to receive free transport to school and for children who live in Hertfordshire the Council provides information about their Home to School Transport Policy and the assistance they offer.
