Other opportunities
There are a number of other opportunities and options for young people across Hertfordshire:
Travel Training Travel
This helps young people with SEND become more comfortable with travelling independently. Trainers will help build the confidence of the young person by teaching them:
- road and personal safety
- how to use timetables and buy tickets
- what to do when things go wrong (for example, if the train is late or cancelled)
- how or where to ask for help
Hertfordshire County Council provides young people aged between 16-18 that have an EHCP with training specifically for home to college travel.
Public transport options
Having access to a range of travel and transport options can help support your independence.
You may also be entitled to subsidised travel which can help with the cost of getting around.
