Keeping your mind well
Many people struggle with their self-esteem, feeling down and overwhelmed. But there is help available.

Feelings can be hard to make sense of. You might not even know why you feel a certain way. We all have lots of feelings and emotions when we experience different things. Talking about things might feel tough, but there are lots of people that can help you.
Childline’s coping kit
When you’re feeling low or overwhelmed, it can be hard to know how to cope. But distracting yourself or doing something positive can really help. Even doing just one positive thing every day can help to improve your mood.
Not sure what you want to do today? Use the Childline tool to help.

Local emotional wellbeing and mental health services
Children’s Wellbeing Practitioners run by Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust are trained to deliver guided self-help interventions for anxiety, low mood and behavioural difficulties. There are four available:
- Child Anxiety (Parent led for children aged 5-11)
- Child Behavioural Problems (Parent led for children aged 5-8. Older children may be accepted in some instances)
- Adolescent Anxiety (For young people aged 11-19)
- Adolescent Low Mood (For young people aged 11-19)
Please note, as highlighted above, child interventions for children aged 5-11 are completed with the parent(s)/carer(s) according to the manual and evidence base for those interventions.
Children’s Wellbeing Practitioners are unable to work with children/young people who are currently actively self-harming or who are currently actively suicidal (having thoughts with intent and/or a plan).
