Local advocacy and support services

Advocacy means getting support from another person to help you express your views and wishes. Someone who helps you in this way is called your advocate.

An advocate will:

5

listen to you

5

go to meetings with you

5

make phone calls for you

5

write letters with you

5

help you understand information

Advocates are trained to do their job. They don’t work for the Council.

An advocate will not tell you what to do. They will not do things without you asking them to.
